The General Data Protection Regulation (“GDPR”), is European privacy legislation that took effect May 25, 2018. It replaced the existing EU member state laws that implement the EU Data Protection Directive, which has been in existence since 1995.
MaxMind is covered by the GDPR in situations where MaxMind processes personal data of MaxMind customers, including but not limited to customer end users, if those individuals are located in the EU.
Since the passage of GDPR in 2018, a number of other countries and US states have data privacy legislation including:
- GDPR (General Data Protection Regulation, which covers the European Union)
- CCPA (California Consumer Privacy Act, which covers the state of California)
- LGPD (Lei Geral de Proteção de Dados Pessoais, or General Personal Data Protection Law, which covers Brazil)
To understand the rights you may have under these and other data privacy legislations, please review MaxMind’s Privacy Policy on our main website.
