The GeoLite2 web services provide access to the same data that exists in the GeoLite2 databases. The GeoLite2 Country web service contains the same data as the GeoLite2 Country database, and the GeoLite2 City web service contains the same data as the GeoLite2 City and ASN databases. You can view a side-by-side comparison of the GeoLite2 databases and web services for more information. The data in the GeoLite2 web services are accessed via an API rather than a downloadable database. Each user of the GeoLite2 web services is limited to 1,000 queries of each service per day.
The GeoLite2 web services are ideal for users who do not want to regularly download and maintain databases on their own servers, while the GeoLite2 databases are ideal for users who may need to run more than 1,000 queries per day, or who need to the host the data on their own servers.
